Overview
Day 01: Arrival in Makassar – Transfer to Toraja (L, D)
Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will be welcomed by our team and begin the scenic journey to Toraja, a drive of approximately 8–9 hours. Along the way, pass through Buginese villages known for their traditional stilt houses, with photo stops en route. Enjoy lunch at a seafood restaurant in Pare-Pare. In the afternoon, pause at Puncak Lakawan for breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Arrive in Rantepao, the heart of the Toraja region, in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 02: Toraja Cultural Discovery – Lemo, Nongnongan, Londa, Karuaya, Kete Kesu (B, L, D)
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the cultural highlights of Tana Toraja. Start with Lemo, famous for its cliffside graves and Tau Tau effigies. Continue to Nongnongan to learn about the tradition of baby tree burials. Then visit Londa, where the deceased are placed in rock tombs. After lunch in a local restaurant in Rantepao, head to Karuaya for panoramic views before taking a short walk to Kete Kesu, one of the oldest and most traditional Toraja villages. Discover original Tongkonan houses and richly carved rice barns. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 03: Adventure Day – Maulu Canyon Rafting (B, L, D)
Following breakfast, embark on an adventurous day as you drive into the highlands toward Maulu Canyon. Hike for approximately 45 minutes through scenic village trails to reach the riverside. There, enjoy 3 to 4 hours of white-water rafting, passing through pristine jungle and river scenery. A picnic lunch will be served on the sandy riverbanks. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 04: Highland Views & Trekking – Batutumonga and Weaving Villages (B, L, D)
After breakfast, visit Timonbayo, where you'll admire panoramic views and ancient megaliths scattered across vast rice terraces. Continue to Lokomata, known for its rock burial caves. Proceed to Batutumonga, an area ideal for soft trekking through traditional villages, offering a glimpse into Torajan daily life. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the area. In the afternoon, visit the megalithic site of Bori, then continue to Pallawa and Sa’dan Tubaranna, villages renowned for their traditional weaving. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 05: Toraja – Return to Makassar – Departure (B, L)
After breakfast and check-out, begin your journey back to Makassar. Take a short break at Puncak Lakawan for one last scenic view, then enjoy lunch at a seafood restaurant in Pare-Pare. Continue to Hasanuddin Airport for your onward flight.
