Overview

Day 01 – Arrival in Makassar – Drive to Toraja
Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, you will be met by your guide and driver. Begin your scenic journey to Tana Toraja, a drive of approximately 8 hours, passing through traditional Buginese villages with their distinctive stilt houses. There will be opportunities to stop for photographs along the way. Lunch (not included) will be at a seafood restaurant in Pare-Pare. In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic view from Puncak Lakawan before arriving in Rantepao in the late afternoon. Check in and overnight at your hotel.

Day 02 – Toraja Exploration: Lemo, Nongnongan, Londa, Karuaya, Kete Kesu (B)
After breakfast, enjoy a full day exploring the cultural heartland of Tana Toraja. Visit Lemo to see its iconic cliffside graves and Tau Tau (wooden effigies). Continue to Nongnongan to discover the “baby tree” graves, then on to Londa, where ancient burial caves house coffins nestled among rocks. Stop for lunch (not included) in Rantepao. In the afternoon, enjoy the scenic views from Karuaya before a short walk to Kete Kesu, one of the oldest and best-preserved traditional villages in Toraja, featuring ancestral Tongkonan houses and elaborately carved rice barns. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 03 – Toraja Highlands: Batu Tumonga, Soft Trekking, Weaving Villages (B)
Start the day with a visit to Timonbayo, offering spectacular views of megaliths scattered across lush rice fields. Continue to Lokomata to see burial caves, then head to Batutumonga for a short, leisurely trek through scenic landscapes and traditional villages. Lunch (not included) will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Bori (a site of standing stones) and continue to Pallawa and Sa’dan Tubaranna, villages renowned for traditional weaving. Return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 04 – Trekking to Limbong Village (B, L, D)
After breakfast, transfer to Salu Village and begin a 4- to 5-hour guided trek through the countryside. Visit the waterfall at Sarabu and continue through rice fields, cross a bamboo bridge, and walk past coffee and cacao plantations. Stop at Parinding Village to see traditional houses and, if you're lucky, observe rice processing the traditional way. Trek onward through scenic rice terraces to Limbong Village. Spend the night in a traditional Torajan house (Tongkonan) with simple facilities and a shared squat toilet. Dinner included.

Day 05 – Rafting Adventure – Return to Rantepao (B, L)
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic two-hour walk to the Maulu River. Pass through beautiful rice terraces before embarking on a thrilling 3-hour white-water rafting adventure. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the riverbank before returning by car to your hotel in Rantepao for overnight.

Day 06 – Toraja – Makassar – Departure (B)
After breakfast, check out and begin the drive back to Makassar. Stop for lunch (not included) at a local restaurant in Pare-Pare. Arrive at Hasanuddin Airport in the late afternoon for your onward flight.

Kindly note:
Accommodation in Sulawesi, particularly in rural or regency areas, is generally very basic and does not meet international standards in terms of comfort and service. In some remote locations, guests may stay in local homes with simple facilities—such as mattresses on the floor, shared bathrooms with squat toilets, and no air conditioning or Wi-Fi. Most hotels have not been recently renovated, offer limited amenities, and room sizes and bed types vary, with queen-size beds being the most common. Breakfast is usually simple and modest.
